WooHoo!  Now you can name your buttons.  We received requests from folks who ran multiple businesses to be able to name their buttons.  Well, if you want, now you can Name Your Buttons! The widget is always there!

The widget is designed to make switching status easy.  All you have to do is pull down the menu and press a button.  But, it also does something else for you! If you have killed MyRideTrac, the widget will restart the app for you.  Simply pull down the widget menu and press a button.   Apple users will see a "Start MyRideTrac" button.   Android users will just need to press a button and MyRideTrac will automatically start. Can I switch phones with MyRideTrac?

Yes!  If you are using iCloud ,  switching phones is easy (see the SETTINGS screen).   Just install MyRideTrac on your phone and start it up.  It will automatically start restoring your backup data. This works if you lost your old phone or are upgrading your phone. Note:  Free version of MyRideTrac on Android phones does not backup.  Be sure to use the SEND REPORT feature to send the data in spreadsheet form to your email.   Of course there are limitations... you can't go from Android to Apple or vice versa.  But, you can always use SEND REPORT to send a spreadsheet with your data to your self.  You can then combine spreadsheets for reporting for taxes.  It's that easy!

Both Android and iOS manage the active applications in memory.  Even if you have a 128Gb phone, not all of it is allocated to actively running programs.  Most of it is used to store programs and their data BUT NOT RUN THEM. When your active program memory starts to run low, the operating system (Android/iOS) starts to put applications into hibernation - essentially shutting them down.  It starts with background apps because they are... well... running in the background. When a tracking app gets put into hibernation, it stops tracking you!   We were frustrated with the other tracking apps missing trips... and it was because they were put to sleep by the operating system!    MyRideTrac gives you a choice to close apps before the operating system does.  That…

MyRideTrac is designed to always be running in the background.  Here's why It tracks your mileage using the GPS in the phone.  To track your mileage, it has to be running.  It runs in the background, because you are using your rideshare app in the foreground. MyRideTrac backs itself up to your iCloud or Google Drive automatically.  It does this several times per day.  It has to be running in the background to do the backup.  If you kill the app, it WILL NOT backup your data!!!   It backs up your data at approximately noon, midnight and every 3,000 GPS pings.
